This is my India....

For those out there who watch the Amazing Race, which is possibly one of my favorite shows, here in Romania is my India. Basically whenever the teams are in India, one team breaks down, couples fight over silly things, just the total poverty, dirtyness, crowds and everything in most major indian cities makes at least one team lose it and scream get me home.. Well so far my 5 days in Romania have been pretty much like this. While I need to get a grip and cope with things, cause I am stronger than this, and I will carry on and leave this place in the rear view mirror.. right now it has been tough. From yesterday, sorry no posts as I was on a train all damn day. 2 trains, one was slow as possible so by the 5th hour, I was dying to arrive in Constanta. Finally 1hr late once I arrived, the train station like most was a madhouse. Again I am trying to find the positive in each place, and I am sure if you were a person from Romania and just arrived in NYC at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, your thoughts might be the same thing.

After wandering around, with no accomidations, and yet not thinking of accepting the offers from the little old ladies, who I was told could be trust, but the language barrier was simply to hard to find out just where, or how much the room was. The shady taxi drivers promising whatever are outside and you have to fight thru them. Finally in a very un-man like fashion, I broke down and asked for directions, for which bus takes me to Mamaia beach, which i heard was the best resort on the black sea... uhhh yeah so much for that.. The bus ride was simple and after trying 3 or 4 hotels, I found one with single rooms, the Price was probably the best in the area, still more than I have paid any night for accomidations, but then I have been staying in dorm rooms. While there is some bit of peace and quiet to have your own room and bed, it would help if the room had a shower. I guess for 40 bucks a night, you just deal with whatever.. I have never served time in the army, but I am an expert now in taking showers in the most strange of places, from hostels where you had to hold the shower head in your hand while bathing in the other, to this place where simply, you soap up, and then quickly rinse off. not the greatest, but it does the trick..

Anyway I have found the internet cafe in town, its nice and cool. I am about to see what this beach is all about. I am not a beach person in my life back home, I have never been to the Hamptons, dont goto the Jersey Shore, never been to Ocean City, MD. I have been to Miami Beach/South Beach and I enjoy that, probably more for the partying than the beach itself as the jellyfish are big and nasty down there. Yet this beach so far is dirty, crowded and water not that great. I see why my sister, while I think its simple minded, always wants to goto Aruba.. its Aruba or nothing, no other beach can compare, so even if white girls from the south turn into shark food, she figures its all good with her.. In a way I see her point.. Speaking of News, have they found that girl in Aruba yet?? I just read from the only english newspaper I have seen that Billy Preston died about 3 weeks ago. Very sad, he had major drug and alchie problems, but musically he was one of the greatest of the recent years.. his resume is amazing, playing with everyone from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder to even my girl Nikka Costa on her first album. If you get a chance listen to his 70s album with OutaSpace on it, fonky song, and great album.

I have notes from 2 days and nights that I will post later on, but now time to get some Pizza and see if I can get 3 shades darker than I am now.. Later
